To get the most life out of your new suit, we have a few recommendations that you can follow!

Removing the Chlorine

The first step we recommend is removing the chlorine from your suit. For this we recommend hand washing using a swimsuit cleaner [hyperlink].

Regular laundry detergents can speed up the deterioration of the fabric, colours, and elastic in suits – TAS recommends avoiding putting your swimsuit in the wash at home.

Swimsuit cleaners are specially designed to remove chlorine and salts from the fabric while still being gentle enough to not cause damage to the suit. These cleaners will keep your suit lasting a long time and keep the colours nice and vibrant.

Best practice would be to handwash the suit with swimsuit cleaner after each use. Our Aquamate Swimsuit Cleaner is sold as a concentrate, only requires one cap full of cleaner per wash! One bottle can last over 50 washes!

Drying Your Suit

Crumpling up your soaking wet bathing suit and throwing it in the bottom of your swim bag can be super convenient, and let’s be honest, we’ve all done it more times than we’d like to admit. But unsurprisingly, that’s not the best way to care for your suit!

After handwashing your suit, we recommend laying your suit flat to dry out of direct sunlight.

Hanging your suit is OK, but can stretch the suit out and wear out the elastic in both the fabric and waistband or straps so best to lay flat.

Never put your swimsuit in the dryer.
